My Big TOE (Theory of Everything) is the most revolutionary and significant book I've ever read. It persuasively and scientifically answers all the big questions: what is the meaning of life, what is the nature of reality, who are we and why are we here. The book is the result of more than 40 years of research by the physicist Thomas Campbell and because of his research and experience he is in an unique position to write this book.My Big TOE doesn't ask you to believe anything. In fact, it asks you not to believe. Instead, it puts forth a careful, well formulated argument and asks you to consider it, while remaining both open minded and skeptical. This volume, Awakening, is the first of a trilogy. You can purchase all three books as one big book or as three separate books. I read the beginning at Google Books before I bought it. When I bought my own copy, I chose the three separate volumes because the book is dense and challenging, and taking it one book at a time feels less daunting to me.The author also has a youtube channel with more than 200 videos featuring his workshops and interviews so if you want to get your feet wet, watch some of the videos. The question and answer videos are always very enlightening and fairly easy to understand. Some of the workshop videos are quite theoretical and you'll be better off if you start with the more informal videos. I often judge the videos by the clothes the author is wearing. I find the more casual his clothes, the more accessible the video. If it turns out you find My Big TOE valuable, you'll probably want to read it more than once. The strange thing about this book is it will seem new each time you read it. You'll be sure that certain information was not there the last time you read it. But the book doesn't change, you do.If you read this book and take it seriously, you'll become kinder, more loving, less fearful, more focused, better organized and more productive. And your life will take on depth and joy. At least that's been my experience. And I feel that I've just scratched the surface of what this remarkable book has to offer.

I don't find this book that interesting. The author has annoying tone of trying to be funny through the book. The subject matter seems esoteric or cultic, or just outlandish. I don't understand what the book is about. I was hoping it would enlighten me about life, philosophy and science. But it falls short. It goes on and on about stuff seems to he just made up. He claims it's real, but appears New Age.

To be fair, i have not yet read the other 2 books in this trilogy, so my perspective is still limited. But i have ordered the second book and will read it. When presenting his very complicated material, the author cautions "open-minded skepticism," and this is the right way to approach this book. The prose can be very dense and some of the text simply lost me, but for the most part Campbell does a pretty good job of explaining his points without dumbing down the text. But i think he could have, and should have, leavened his writing with real-world examples so that readers could connect better with his points. But this is not really a negative review--if you have a serious interest in philosophy and religion and how they intersect with science (note the word "serious"), i think the book will be worth a purchase and a read. I'm interested in seeing where Campbell goes in the next two.

I think Campbell is trying to relate some important information but he is not a very good writer. He starts by reviewing his history. What was unbelievable was the speed that enabled him to go from lucid dreaming to different levels of consciousness. Maybe he just wanted to speed the process up for the book. The worst thing is is repetitive “I’m a scientist” mantra. Didn’t he have an editor? Campbell has many You Tube videos and amazingly his videos are as bad as his books.

This first book of three exploring Mr. Campbell's intriguing "Theory of Everything" is mostly explanatory; it provides background information on his credentials/professional background and then begins to lay the foundation that the theory will build on. It delves into quantum physics, reality, non-reality, the paranormal, and other esoteric subjects.Parts of this book are a bit dry, parts are confusing, parts are humorous, parts are very, very interesting. Campbell does alot of reiterating, which is good for non-scientific readers such as myself that helps the heady concepts to sink in. He keeps saying how wierd and cuckoo reality and non-reality are, but, so far anyway, does not go into detail on this. I am hoping that he will in the next two volumes, which I will definitely read.If you wonder, like Voltaire did, "why is there anything?", then this is the trilogy for you.

This is the most riveting, thought provoking book I have ever read. I downloaded the trilogy two weeks ago and have spent every available spare moment reading the first book -- Awakening, which I just finished.I'm going to keep my review brief because I can't wait to get started with book two -- Discovery. If your attention span has large potholes (as has mine) from years of weathered neglect, then it will be initially challenging to stay focused long enough to vaguely grok what you're reading. I read many passages several times. Keep reading. You will be rewarded. Thomas Campbell has a special gift of conveying mindblowing theoretical concepts in an accessible and even entertaining way for regular Janes such as myself. If you have any curiosity about the nature of existence, I highly recommend this fascinating book.Now... on to book two!!!

This book provided a great platform to build a Big Toe. Tom's insight and sense of humor helped take the edge off some of the more complex ideas. At times the book and concepts became somewhat over complicated and difficult to understand but overall it was excellent work.
